Plum Divine and a sale!

In addition to gearing up for the Ravelry ad (that is now running, btw! yay!), I'm also getting ready for a SALE that will be running from April 17-20. It is the ESST - Etsy Supplies Street Team sale! The ESST shop sales may include percentage off deals, free shipping, free goodies, or everyday great prices. Of course, my problem is I'm not exactly sure what MY sale is going to be! So, please keep an eye here on my blog, or my shop announcement on etsy for details starting Thursday morning. I may have different offers each day, or something that I will run throughout. I'm just not sure yet!

What I AM sure about is I have finished all of the Plum Divine skeins! (well, for now, at least!) I have *6* new skeins up at kittygrrlz.com and my etsy store. Each set of two is slightly different. (Please note, if you were to purchase any of them today, or anything else in my shop, and then that item ended up being part of my sale tomorrow, I *will* honor the discount by refunding the difference if payment was already made.)

These have burgundy, green, and purple specialty and novelty yarns spun in and are plied with green thread. Great yardage!

Plum - Lime - Divine 1 & 2
These two skeins have only purple and green novelty and specialty yarns spun in and are both plied with green thread with coils & beehives for added texture!


Plum - Sunshine - Divine 1 & 2
These two skeins have yellow, burgundy, green and purple novelty and specialty yarns spun in and are plied with yellow thread instead of the green.

Lots going on this week!

So, tomorrow I will have a featured yarn ad on Ravelry! It will be promoting my "Plum . . . Divine" FunctionArt yarns! I have one ad that I will be using for sure, and another that I might be rotating in. For those who aren't on Ravelry, here are the ads, designed by Scott Bertz of WebWorkLife.

Of course, this means that I have been working hard to have more Plum Divine yarns done! I have 4 of 6 skeins spun up so far and am hoping to finish the last two tonight. Each set of 2 is slightly different. The first set has green, purple, and burgundy yarns spun in while the second set only has green and purple. The second set also has coils and beehives for added texture. I'm not sure what the final set will be - I think it will be closer to the first batch, though, since there is a lot of burgundy in that particular batch of fiber.

I've also got a few special requests in the works as well as working on something else that I'll post about tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some new yarns!

I also have a Navajo 3-ply skein to list later today. This was spun from hand dyed merino wool, dyed by the Yarn Wench - a color called "Kilkenny". I've already spun other batches of this color into the "Compendium" FunctionArt Yarn, and also a small Novel-Ply skein called "Surprise Party". It's interesting to see the same color spun up in different ways! This is the "Compendium" Navajo 3-ply, and again, this will be listed later today:

And, finally, here is a sneak peak at the Plum . . . Divine skeins! These will not be available until late tonight or early tomorrow morning:


These two are the "Plum - Wine - Divine" One is 130 yards and the other is 124 yards. Bulky weight.
This is one of two Plum - Lime - Divine skeins. They are 94 yards and 84 yards, bulky/super bulky weight and also have coils/beehives spun occasionally for extra texture.

Kitty Singles! and more . . .

Once again I haven't had a chance to blog and now I've got a couple of things to get to today . . .

On the spinning front, after completing my first Alchemy request, I needed to spin up a few singles - partly because I sold a few at the beginning of the month, and partly because I needed something that was a little "quicker" of a spin than the art yarns. Here are the 3 newest:

Mahogany Midnight Moon Revisited & more!

Here are a couple pictures of the new skein of Mahogany Midnight Moon that I mentioned yesterday. It is now on etsy and my website.

I also spun up a quick Novel-Ply yarn the other night, too. It is spun from the remaining fiber used for the "Compendium" art yarn. This one is a small skein plied with Berroco Plume FX yarn. Very bright! I still have more of this color so may be spinning more art yarn skeins with it, or possibly a single ply!


And, here is a sneak peek at what I spun up last night! It is another art yarn, spun from merino wool hand dyed by the Yarn Wench - color called Aqualime Explosion! I have more of this, too, so should have another skein or more coming soon. This one will be listed later today:

Not sure what I'll have to offer next week - this weekend I have some custom skeins to spin up, some shawls to knit, and some more bamboo to spin. Next week may also be focused on knitting shawls for my show on April 12. I WILL be getting back to the art yarns soon, but I'm just not sure when. I also have a lot of partial-fiber-batches to finish up so over the next couple of weeks you may be seeing some repeats - at this time I've got more Aqualime Explosion, more Kilkenny/Compendium, more Hot Tropics/Spring Break, and more Eye Candy on the horizon. THEN, it will be time for some new colors!

Wild Birds

Morning all! Here are some better pictures of the new yarn I mentioned yesterday!

Last night, I opted to spin a new yarn instead of doing the second skein of Wild Birds. This one is from a color called "Mahogany Peacock", hand dyed merino wool from the Yarn Wench. It is one of my absolute favorite colorways ever! I was so happy when she dyed more of it! Here are a couple of pictures of the other yarns I have made with this color, and also the items I knit with the previous art yarn:

It was one of my most favorite yarns I've ever spun so when I had the chance at the color again, I jumped at it. I finished the first skein last night. I still have half of this fiber batch to spin and also another 4 oz batch. I'm not sure I'll do art yarns with the other 4 oz, but I am with the first batch. Here is a sneak peak of the first skein spun last night (should be listed later today with much better pictures - the blue is a little more teal/peacock than the picture shows).

As you can see, it is slightly different than the first yarn. I used some different novelties this time and also did some coils/beehives while plying. Again, the blue isn't quite right, and it is plied with shiny rayon thread in color "peacock". I look forward to spinning the matching skein (probably tomorrow) and also figuring out what to do with the second batch!

In other news, I have been working on a custom request. The other night I spun up two example skeins out of some of the extra fiber. The fiber is hand dyed merino wool, dyed (of course) by Lynn aka the Yarn Wench in shades of brown and turquoise/teal. Since they were only examples, and I'll be spinning the custom request yarn from a slightly different batch, I've decided to offer these two skeins up for sale. One of them is already up and available on etsy.

This skein is super bulky and soft! It is plied with Angel Hair acrylic/nylon/wool yarn from Joanns. I really love the Angel Hair yarn as it is soooo soft! I thought it matched the fiber pretty well, so spun up this "Novel-Ply" skein. My "Novel-Ply" yarns are yarns that are usually a bulky single ply of hand spun yarn plied with a commercial novelty yarn. If I end up with extra fiber after doing the custom skeins I *might* spin up another of these but I'm not sure.

Here is the second skein. This one isn't quite available yet and I'm not sure if I'll list it right away - this is the same style as the custom yarn will be and there is a chance I may need it for that order. I have slightly different batches of the fiber, though, with a little more turquoise in them that I am hoping will be enough for the custom order. But, here is the sample skein - 70 yards and plied with copper thread in the "Rocky Roads" style (mostly bulky weight but then has coils/beehives randomly throughout!)


And, here is a sneak peek at a new yarn I spun last night. I'm not sure what I'm going to call it, but it is spun from hand dyed merino wool dyed by the Yarn Wench in a color called "Wildbirds". I spun in blue, brown, and peach yarns and plied with copper thread. This skein is 110 yards, 3.7 oz, and I do plan on spinning a matching skein either tonight or tomorrow. (Can't decide if I want to do this one again or do a new one that I prepped last night!) (edited to add a better picture!)

I've been spinning up bamboo fiber and will continue to do so this month, but here are a couple of shots of what I did this past weekend:

As you can see, I haven't been doing many of the art yarns lately - I WANT to, but feel I need to expand my variety a little, plus I am preparing for upcoming shows, which means - knitting shawls!!



The shawls are really becoming a priority as I will be doing a show at the Hilldale Mall in Madison, Wisconsin on May 3 and 4 called "Artistic Accessories" and I really want to have the shawls in as many colors as possible.

I also am trying to spin up the rest of the bamboo fiber I have - it is on special this month for my newsletter subscribers - and I think it will be good to have some non-wool yarns for these warmer-weather shows (well, if it IS warmer by April 12 and May 3/4!).

Oh! One more thing (well, two) . . . here is another new yarn. It is one of my "Rocky Roads" yarns which is a bulky single plied with thread with occasional coils/beehives along the way . .
And, I also just checked, and I don't think I posted this new art yarn! "Compendium" is merino wool spun up with lots of novelty yarns snippets and plied with thread. I plan on making more in this colorway, too, just haven't gotten to it yet:
