Busy spinning weekend!

So, this weekend was pretty great in that I spun ALOT. Saturday alone I spun *6* skeins of yarn! Yay! I love days when I can get that much done. I didn't do quite as much on Sunday, but still got some more bamboo spun up . . . . before I get to pictures of this weekend's spinning, I just want to mention that over on DancingMooney's blog, "Random Musings About Art, and Life" it is the time for here What's in the Bag? Now, on to the pictures . . .

First, the bamboo. This first yarn is another spin of bamboo two-ply, the color I've been calling "Summer Carnival". This batch was spun just a bit thinner, so it turned out to be more DK than Worsted weight. I've got 306 yards! This may or may not be a special request, but either way I do hope to have it listed soon. It was spun by me from hand dyed bamboo fiber from the FiberLady.

More bamboo - this was actually spun up on Sunday . . . again, fiber from FiberLady, hand dyed bamboo . . . I'm calling these "Violets R Blue", though it was spun from her "Ocean Dusk" colorway. Again, one or both might be spoken for already, but if not, they will be listed soon, too.

The top skein is 220 yards and the bottom is 170 - both sport weight.

Then, there were the single plys! I spun up one on Friday. This deserves a little special attention because it is my first LOOP batt! Naomi of Ryono Creations was kind enough to share one her LOOP batts (I believe it was Sunset Spectacle). I received it on Thursday but couldn't spin it until Friday . . . . and all I can say is . . . WOW! It was so wonderful to spin, I think it was the alpaca in it that made it such a smooth spin, and the recycled silk added texture and color, plus the merino wool . . . just, well, it was so great I could resist no longer and joined her "Spontaneous Spinning Club" - one "Spontaneous Spinning Batt" a month for the next 6 months! I can't wait for my first one! Anyways, here is a picture of the single ply yarn - I'm calling it "Sunset Wish" and it is now listed on etsy and my website. It is 130 yards, mostly DK weight with some thicker sections and very soft!
Then, on Saturday, I did spin up two more single ply yarns from hand dyed Falkland wool, dyed by the Yarn Wench. The first is "Strawberry Mocha Creme" (from the roving of the same name) and it is 165 yards of DK weight yarn. I just love these colors and actually spun up some bamboo in similar colors last night!

"Golden Peacock" is 155 yards of DK weight as well, spun from the colorway "Titian".

I also spun up some more "Eye Candy"! I had been planning on spinning up the last batch of fiber I had in this colorway, but got an extra incentive when I had a query about it . . . SO, I spun up two skeins, but only one is still available:


And, finally, later on Saturday night (I finished these around 10pm!), were two more skeins of "Turquoise Sands Surprise" Novel-Ply Yarn. I liked the first skein so much, and since I did still have some of the remaining fiber from my alchemy request, I decided it would become two more Novel-Ply skeins. Both are spun thick/thin (merino wool, of course) and then plied with super soft Angel Hair Yarn. Both are available now.


So, I think that is it! Tonight, it is more bamboo and some knitting . . . tomorrow I hope to venture into some art yarn spinning again . . . we'll see.

Kitty Singles! and more . . .

Once again I haven't had a chance to blog and now I've got a couple of things to get to today . . .

On the spinning front, after completing my first Alchemy request, I needed to spin up a few singles - partly because I sold a few at the beginning of the month, and partly because I needed something that was a little "quicker" of a spin than the art yarns. Here are the 3 newest:

First, I've got to share some pics of my spoiled Bug girl! Instead of sleeping under my spinning wheel yesterday, she decided to lounge amongst her toys!

And, finally, here is another skein of hand spun bamboo fiber, "Smashin' Satin" which also matches the Navajo 3-ply I have in my shop, too.
I haven't come up with a snazzy name yet for the bamboo yarns, but I'm working on trying to "categorize" and name all of my styles of yarn. This stems from wanting to try and get my yarns re-organized in Ravelry to match the way the "big" yarn companies do it. So, for example, ALL of my yarns will be "Kitty Grrlz Hand Spun", then they will have a style name - like Batt-tacular! (which are yarns spun from carded batts), and then the colorway. Coming up with "style/type" names has been difficult, and so far the only ones I'm using that I like are Batt-tacular!, Batt-tacular! Singles, and CoilySpun (these are the super coily yarns). But, over the next couple of weeks I hope to have them all named and organized! :)

A few things this morning . . .

Inconsistent Spring Hand Spun Single Ply Yarn - this one was spun from nice and soft Falkland wool hand dyed by the Yarn Wench, color called "Bower". It ended up a little less consistent than I like, even for a thick/thin single, so it varies between DK and Worsted weight. 150 yards.

Pretty Purple Pansies - spun from a pretty batt from TerraBellaSpun - this one has merino, superwash, wool, bamboo, gold sparkle, and white glitz and then is plied with light purple thread. 78 bulky yards.

And, then there is Woodland Royalty - an earthy skein in browns with gorgeous deep purple and plied with dark purple thread. This one is spun from another TerraBellaSpun batt made up of wool, mohair, bamboo, sparkle, and Tussah Silk. 66 bulky yards.
Second . . . I was on the front page earlier this week, overnight, with my Plum Grove revisited yarn. And, then, I was on AGAIN last night with the same yarn, but this time it sold!! I was so excited since this is the first time that has happened! Woohoo! Here is a screenshot of the treasury (and i'm sorry i couldn't get the entire thing - i don't have a big monitor!) Thank you to crafthabit for creating such a beautiful treasury and for including me in it!

Also, for anyone who may be interested in the Plum Grove yarn but missed out on it - I do have 4 more oz of fiber that could be spun into a similar yarn. I am running out of some of the yarns I spin into it, but could spin two more skeins in this color combination. Just email me or convo me on etsy for details!

Finally, no Lego Star Wars last night as I was a little slow in getting my "work" done - but, I will have two skeins of a pretty shades-of-green-and-yellow-and-gold posted later today - here is a sneak peek:

A few new yarns

So, I really do want to blog more, honest. It just seems there aren't enough minutes in the day! I'm on a break right now, so here is a quickie, picture-heavy post. Stay tuned, though, because I am determined to have more of "content" post soon, in addition to featuring some great etsy sellers who have bought my yarn and are making amazing things with it!

But, for today . . . here are a couple new yarns. One is already available and the other 3 will be listed on my website later today and on etsy today and tomorrow.

The really funny thing is, I AM SUPPOSED TO BE KNITTING! ;) I have a show this weekend and not many hand knit items . . . but all I keep doing . . . is spinning!

Oh well . . . maybe I will get some knitting done tonight . . .

Busy weekend--lots of new yarns!

So, I was pretty busy this past weekend. I did do a craft show, that, well, wasn't good. I only sold *one* thing!? It was the first time I didn't at least make my fee back! But, I do have to say it was a really well-organized and nicely run show. They did something that I thought was really nice, and especially helpful since I usually do shows alone--they included"menus" for their food items in our packets . . . and came around and collected our orders and then . . . . delivered us lunch! Very nice!

While at the show, I spun up a yarn! I listed it last night, and it has actually already sold, but here is a picture anyways:

It was spun from domestic wool and Navajo plied. The wool was handdyed by The Yarn Wench.

After the show, I tried to relax and actually fell asleep early . . . only to wake up around 10:30 pm . . . and decided to spin up the fiber I had prepped at the show . . . these are two single ply skeins spun from domestic wool also dyed by the Yarn Wench. The colorway was called "Broken Heart".
Then, on Sunday, my goal was to spin up the handdyed merino wool I got from TerraBellaSpun. The first was called "Nights of Armor", and from it, novelty yarns, lots of silver and gray angelina, and thread, I spun up two skeins of "Gothic Valentine".


The second batch of wool was called "Autumn". The first half, I spun and plied with Online Linie Smash eyelash yarn, which happened to match *perfectly*!

And, the second half, I spun into a thick/thin single, spun in the remaining eyelash yarn, and plied with thread:

And, finally, there was the 8 oz of Bamboo Fiber I got from the FiberLady. These colors just spoke to me, and I spun a simple single ply from each batch:

(And, isn't this just perfect, since now I have $$ in my paypal account . . . and there is a rumor of a Yarn Wench update AND sale today! ;)

Tons of new yarns!

This will be very photo-heavy as I've got a ton of new yarns that I've spun up over the past four days! I'm going to try to post only one photo per yarn but if you want to see more, please check out my flickr account here! I'll be going backwards--most recently done to older ones done at the end of last week.

This is another Navajo 3-ply yarn, from handdyed merino wool from the Yarn Wench in a colorway she called "Amethyst-Topaz":


Then, there is my absolute favorite yarn of late and probably my BEST Navajo ply yarn, Undertow, from handdyed Falkland wool from the Yarn Wench:

Then, here is "Sunburnt Sky" handspun art yarns, spun from handdyed merino wool from the Yarn Wench.

I also spun up two different types of wool in colorway "Poodleskirt" (also from the Yarn Wench). The first is domestic wool, plied with Dazzle by Estelle novelty yarn:

Then, there is the two skeins of merino. The first is plied with handdyed nylon novelty yarn (dyed by the Yarn Wench) and the second is plied with thread. Both have some black novelty yarns spun in and lots of angelina for sparkle!
