Orchid Sky Art Yarn!

Here is the yarn I spun from the fiber posted earlier this week! It is not on my site or etsy yet, but probably will be soon. I love it! The pictures don't capture all the sparkle from the angelina! I am hoping to take new pictures before i list it, but for now:


This yarn was spun from handdyed Merino wool (dyed by the Yarn Wench). I also spun in handdyed Romney Locks (also dyed by the YW) and three European novelty/specialty yarns. There is also lots of angelina in there and then I plied it with rayon thread!

It is handdyed merino wool, handdyed Romney locks (both dyed by the Yarn Wench), three novelty/specialty yarns and some angelina! I also plan on plying this with thread.

I can't wait to leave work so I can get spinning this! :)

Broken Heart Hat

Fatigued . . .

Over the weekend I kept hearing about Roger Clemens and his "fatigued" groin and I was like, exactly what *does* that mean anyways . . .

Well, I think I now know. Or at least have some idea. And, no, this isn't about my groin . .

It's about my hands/wrists/arms which are just plain . . . fatigued! it's not the same as the pain I sometimes get with too much mousing/typing/knitting/spinning, it's more just . . . tiredness! my hands just don't want to move . . .

This means it's been a tough couple of days. I haven't spun since the weekend because I just can't. Typing/mousing at work (and blogging!) has been difficult and even knitting was a little tough . .

BUT, I DID finish this hat today while waiting for my car to get an oil change! Pictures show it with or without the pom pom on top! It is knit with handspun art yarn from the Yarn Wench! She called it "Waiting for the Sun" which is what I'm calling the hat (which is now on my website!)

I don't think I'll spin tonight--want to give my hands one more day of rest, but I should be back at it tomorrow . . . I hope! I'm going into withdrawal!!

From fiber to Yarn

It was dreary yesterday when I took the photos so didn't quite get the boldness of the colors . . . am hoping to have better pics soon. The pictures show the fiber ready to be spun, the spun singles, and then the spun two-ply!

Friday night I finished spinning up the May Fiber of the Month from Spunky Eclectic's Spunky Club. I have two skeins of single ply . . .

I also finished this wonderfully soft yarn that I spun from superwash merino wool roving dyed by ChicksWithSticks! I commissioned the color to match some Bernat Cool Crochet yarn/thread that I bought on sale at Joanns last week. It worked out exactly how I hoped! This yarn is available on my website.

Today, I spun up some super soft merino wool dyed by the Yarn Wench
I decided to make it another "two ply with flair" so also spun in some soft Cotswold Lamb locks that matched perfectly! (they were also dyed by the Yarn Wench.) This is a preliminary picture taken before setting the twist (it is drying right now!):

I've got some fibers prepped for tomorrow as I plan to spin most of the day! Woohoo! :) Gotta love the weekend!
